Being among the leaders in girls’ education in the MENA region, we have been invited by the Aydın Doğan Foundation to speak during the conference on the International Day of the Girl Child at the 11th of October in Turkey. The conference is organized in partnership with various UN Agencies and the invitation came as a result of our recent selection by the Brookings Institute to serve as the MENA regional hub for girls’ education leaders. Mayyada Abu Jaber, who will represent WoL during the conference, will talk about current challenges faced in the MENA region as regards girls’ education and women’s transition from education to the labor market. She will introduce the organization’s Jo-Womenomics initiative, established to address cultural barriers that lie at the heart of women’s low labor force participation in the MENA region.
